In this episode, Aaron and Josh continue the series on Managed Services. Today's discussion covers a number of Software Services (antivirus, spam filtering, email, security training, etc.) that can be monitored and maintained by an IT company as part of a managed services agreement.
Antivirus is a must-have piece of software on your PCs, and it's absolutely critical that your antivirus software gets updated immediately when updates become available. This will protect your device against newly discovered threats. Your Managed IT Services Provider can keep all of your devices updates rather than having each user keep track of the updates on their own devices.
Email is another application where an IT company can provide valuable help. They can trace messages, control email inboxes of employees as turnover happens, and monitor where employee messages are going. A good email management plan will prevent abuse of email systems and ensure all communications end up in a place where they will be seen.
Finally, security training and testing software is a fantastic way to teach your team how to recognize and avoid email phishing and cyber-attacks. But unless you have someone to assign the training and send out the simulated email attacks, this type of software can easily go unused and provide no value.
